Recently, I uncovered some good
news for Jews besieged by rising anti-Semitism.
While the western world is once
again in the grips of one of the recurrent serious inflammations of the
incurable mental herpes known as anti-Semitism, the Chinese appear to have
developed immunity from this disease.
As a matter of fact, they want to
be like Jews. So much so that they publish and read self -help books on how to
be like Jews.
In a short article published on
August 4, 2014 and re-published in Jewniverse Tamar Fox wrote the following:
“Head to the self-help or
business section at a bookstore in China and you are likely to see books with
titles like and Jewish People and
Business: The Bible of How to Live Their Lives. These cringy titles might
suggest something weird, or even anti-Semitic, but they are actually part of a
booming philo-Semitic culture in China, where Jews are widely perceived as
entrepreneurial and successful, exactly what so many Chinese people hope to
become.
You probably won’t be surprised
to hear that most of the books that claim to give Jewish secrets are written by
people who know next to nothing about Jews or Judaism…To combat this ignorance,
and to feed the love for Judaism that has swept the country, there are now a
half dozen centers for the study of Judaism in China….”
