The plaque outside Canada's new
National Holocaust Monument in Ottawa, inaugurated by Prime Minister Justin
Trudeau last week, paid tribute to the "millions of men, women and
children murdered during the Holocaust," but failed to mention Jews or
anti-Semitism. After the omission drew furious criticism, the plaque was
removed.
Dan Bilefsky, New York Times
This is not the first time such a thing happened. The Prime Minister in his
first Holocaust day speech omitted to mention the Jews.
The question is: Who drafted the final wording of the plaque, in
consultation with whom and under whose direction?
Personally, I think the plaque ought
to refer to Jews, gypsies, the disabled and other innocent people.
