Any reason the gunman
was not described as a "Christian"
terrorist? Islamic
terrorists are usually described as "Muslim"
by the news media.
Just wondering.
John Hall.
Montreal.
Montreal.
Barely two days after
the commemorative World Holocaust
Remembrance Day, on Sunday, January 29th, a lone gunman entered a Muslim worship and refuge centre in Quebec
City, and shouting “Allahu Akbar” ,
executed six worshippers ,ages 35 to 70, and injured eight of them.
I pray that the deceased rest in peace.
I wish the injured speedy recovery, rest and repose, and together with the families of the deceased and the other 39 survivors, the strength to deal with and overcome their trauma, to find peace of mind and to have rewarding future.
To those who utter silly slogans like “diversity is our strength”, I say stop talking rubbish. Diversity also causes divisiveness that undermines social solidarity and damages the societal fabric. The management, or rather the lack of proper management of diversity has becoming a serious national challenge for all Canadians and in particular both for Muslims and Jews.
The best way to honour the memory of these innocent victims; to renew the faith in diversity of both the bereaved families and of the survivors, it is high time, if not long overdue, for the federal and the provincial governments to stop wasting time debating and passing symbolic motions and to start doing the principled hard work to deal effectively with the divisiveness and breach of solidarity before things get worse, as they are bound to get.
