Playing Politics With the Wanton Killing of Innocent Victims at the Mosque in Quebec City

Thursday, 09 February 2017

Yesterday, the Canadian Press reported the following news
 OTTAWA - A coalition of Canadian Muslim organizations is calling for all levels of government to combat Islamophobia in the wake of the shootings at a Quebec mosque.
Among other things, the group wants better training for police, mandatory anti-racism education in schools and for Parliament to declare Jan. 29 a national day of remembrance and action on Islamophobia.
That's the day a shooter opened fire in a Quebec City mosque and killed six people.
Ihsaan Gardee of the National Council of Canadian Muslims says the Muslim community felt embraced by the outpouring of support in the wake of the shooting.
He says the question now is how to move forward and ensure lessons are learned from the tragedy.
Gardee says he hopes the recommendations will produce concrete action that will help stamp out hate. 10:52ET 08-02-17
By way of background, the issue of the course of action to govern the future  sought recommended by the coalition and related unspecified  initiatives, other than the dedication of January 29 in the manner requested, is dealt with in good measure in Motion M-310 filed by Liberal backbencher Ms. Iqra Khalid, member for Mississauga - Erin Mills less than two months after Parliament passed the motion condemning “all forms of Islamophobia”.

Fighting Islamophobia is a two-way street.
I am prepared to fight Islamophobia the day when extremist Muslims in Canada will:
  1.  Provide a satisfactory  and binding definition of the term Islamophobia.
  2.  Respect the rights and freedoms of all citizens.
  3.  Cease and desist  from:
          a)  giving a hard time to  the secular reformist Muslim community;
          b)  acting in a divisive manner on  the campuses of our colleges and universities;
          c)  actively engaging in all sorts of disgusting anti-Semitic behaviour.

      4.  Respect the memory of the Holocaust.
      5.  Fight anti-Semitism vigorously.
      6.  Stop:
           a)  behaving in a provocative manner that offends the  sensitivities of others
                and leads them to develop a negative image of Muslims;
           b)   seeking privileges not afforded to others;
           c)   self-victimising themselves;
           d)   invoking their freedom of speech to defend  your venomous, hateful discourse.

I am not prepared to have January 29, 2017 declared a day of Remembrance  for only the victims of the Mosque.
I am however prepared to support the government to declare the day in question, a day of Remembrance for all the victims of ethnic, religious, racial discrimination, hate and violence in the history of Canada.

I am not prepared to support the government and I strenuously object to declaring January 29th a national day of action on Islamophobia, a term which extremist Muslims use consistently  to terrorise and keep quiet their opponents, while spewing their venom.

I predict that based on the past behaviour of the Prime Minister; the Parliament of Canada; the previous and the present Premier of Ontario, and the Ontario Legislature, these two governments and legislative bodies will accede to all the demands of the coalition and will vote in favour of Ms. Khalid’s motion.
I also predict that if the crimes of the accused were committed as a result of his mental health problems, none of the recommendations made by the coalition nor the implementation of motion M-310 will make the slightest difference in the future. It is trite science that ,for all intents and purposes , it remains impossible to deter mentally- ill homicidal persons from committing similar crimes in the future.

In the result, the recommendations of the coalition and the implementation  of the course of action sought by Ms. Khalid will amount to a total waste of time and money; unless that is, the  government spending  these  monies consider them well spent to purchase votes at a bargain price. And it so happens that the Ontario elections will be upon us soon.
