The Prime Minister and the Rot of Anti-Semitism on Canadian University and College Campuses

Thursday, 2  March 2017

Long overdue question: When will the Prime Minister overcome his obsession with “so-called” Islamophobia”; his indifference to Jewish university students, and find the moral courage expected of a Prime Minister to follow the example of British Prime Minister May and to do so publicly?

Question 2: Does the Prime Minister have the moral fortitude to advise the universities publicly that failure to comply with his request will result in cutting off of federal funding to recalcitrant universities after due process?
Question 3: Does the Prime Minister have the moral fortitude to respect and comply fully with the letter, spirit and recommendations of the Ottawa Protocol and to announce this publicly?
Question 4: If the answer is affirmative, does the Prime Minister have the moral fortitude
a) To dust off the Report of the all-party (save the BQ)  Inquiry Panel of the Canadian Parliamentary Coalition to Combat Anti-Semitism;
b) Read it;
c) Implement its recommendations promptly, and
d) Announce this publicly?
5. Does the Prime Minister have the moral fortitude to publicly request the provincial governments?
a)  To implement affirmatively the recommendations of both the Ottawa Protocol and of the Report of the Parliamentary Inquiry Panel that fall within their jurisdictions, and
b) To enforce the implementation process?
6. Does the Prime Minister have the moral fortitude to pass a motion in the House of Commons condemning ”all forms of anti-Semitism” and to insert in the motion a proper and full definition of anti-Semitism starting with the wording of the definition in the motion passed by the House in 2005?
6. In the event, the Prime Minister does not have the moral fortitude to  provide affirmative answers  to the foregoing questions and act on his  own word, would the Prime Minister then admit publicly that
a) He has at least two weights, two measures, double standards in addressing the problems confronted by different ethnic and religious groups;
b) The Liberal government’s official multiculturalism policy is not worth the paper on which it is printed as well as in  section 27 of the Charter of Rights and Freedoms and in the 1988 Canadian Multiculturalism Act, save an except for the favourites of the Prime Minister, and
c) The Liberal government is the empty core of Canadian polity?

British Prime Minister Calls on UK Universities to ‘Swiftly Address’ Campus Anti-Semitism

 By Lea Speyer   ALGEMEINER, MARCH 1 AND 2, 2017

British Prime Minister Theresa May on Wednesday called on UK universities to “investigate and swiftly address” campus anti-Semitism.
“Higher education institutions have a responsibility to ensure that they provide a safe and inclusive environment for all students, and we expect them to have robust policies and procedures in place to comply with the law,” May said, during the traditional weekly Prime Minister’s Questions Parliament session.
She also noted that Minister for Universities and Science Jo Johnson had urged college administrations to “follow the government’s lead in adopting the IHRA (International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance) definition of antisemitism” and had “actually recently written to remind these institutions of [the government’s] expectations.”
May was responding to a query from Conservative MP Bob Blackman, who said: “This week, Jewish students are being subjected to intimidation, fear and antisemitism as a result of so-called Israel Apartheid Week. What action can my Right Honorable friend make sure [sic] that chancellors and principals ensure that antisemitism is not allowed to prosper on campuses?”
Blackman was referring to Israeli Apartheid Week, a series of annual BDS events held during February and March at universities around the world, and to the reported increase in incidents targeting Jewish students.
Members of leading advocacy groups in the UK recently told The Algemeiner that they were gearing up to “proactively” counter these events. The country’s former chief rabbi, Rabbi Lord Jonathan Sacks, released an animated video animated video on Monday to arm students with the tools to confront anti-Israel activity on campus.
